Following an earlier order of SMA made static converters for the N8C trams, the Kasseler Verkehrs-Gesellschaft AG (KVG) decided to replace also the static converters type DBU originally made by AEG in the low floor trams type NGT6C with new static converters made by SMA. The refurbishment will start in 2008. About five vehicles will be refurbished each year.
