Medel from Turkey has ordered 30 multi-voltage auxiliary power converters from SMA Railway Technology GmbH. SMA supplies all the modules and components that are required for the installation in the respective underfloor containers. The final assembly takes place at Medel in Istanbul. Afterwards, the auxiliary power converters are delivered to the Turkish rolling stock manufacturer TÜVASAS and mounted in sleeping cars for Bulgaria. The systems transform four UIC-input voltages 1,000 V AC, 1,500 V AC, 1,500 V DC and 3,000 V DC to the output-voltages 24 V DC, 8 kW; 3 x 230 / 400 V AC, 33 kVA, 50 Hz; 3 x 230 / 400 V AC, 44 kVA, 50 Hz. The deliveries will start in the late summer 2011 and will be completed in spring 2012.
